PA Virtual’s academic program supports each child’s unique academic needs. Combining various instructional formats and our highly qualified, PA-certified teachers, our program engages students and enhances student achievement.
In our prescriptive approach to education, PA Virtual collaborates with parents and students to determine the instructional model that best meets the needs of each student.
PA VIRTUAL OFFERS TWO TYPES OF INSTRUCTIONAL FORMATS
Asynchronous – Adapting to your schedule, students and Learning Coaches use the K12 Inc. Online School for interactive and engaging lessons as well as daily and weekly lesson plans. PA-certified teachers collaborate with you through each course to ensure student progress and success.
Synchronous – Students and teachers interact in regularly scheduled, live virtual classes using our Blackboard Collaborate™ classroom software. Interacting with teachers and peers, your child can engage in lessons and activities using 21st century tools including discussion boards, wikis, podcasts, videos, and webcams.
PA VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION IS SUPPORTED AND ENHANCED WITH:
Student Achievement Monitoring – Understanding your child’s unique needs is essential for success. We use a variety of tools to determine each child’s strengths and weaknesses to develop a personalized learning plan targeting individual achievement.
Parent/Student Conferences – Conferences with your teacher occur regularly to discuss student progress, evaluate student goals, and ensure student success.
Portfolio Assignments – Portfolio assignments help monitor each child’s growth and development. These assignments are an integral part of the student-teacher relationship.
In accordance with the provisions of Title 22 PA Code Chapter 711, PA Virtual provides special education services to students with special needs within their least restrictive environment. All PA Virtual Special Education Teachers are PA-certified and work cooperatively with the members of your student’s team to construct an Individualized Education Plan designed to meet your child’s academic needs and goals.
